!GeRald! – Music For Broken Elevators (EP)
!Gerald! are a French/English band consisting of four members, formed in 2018 with the intention of offering a unique musical and visual experience. They now present their new production: “Music For Broken Elevators”. Although this album consists of only five songs, it is an entire journey and experience for the senses and emotions.
It’s nearly impossible to categorize !Gerald! within a single musical genre, as their sound navigates through various styles such as French prog rock, psychedelic rock, jazz-rock, darkwave, post-punk, and eclectic prog. However, what stands out in this album is its theatrical rock influence, guiding us through different soundscapes and musical executions that transport us to another place where we don’t know what will happen next, making it an intriguing proposition.
The new EP lasts 26 minutes and is composed of five tracks, three of which are instrumental. This makes “Music For Broken Elevators” slightly different from their previous album, “The Lost Tapes”, where almost all the tracks were instrumental, with some vocal interventions that mostly accompanied in the background. “In Music For Broken Elevators”, we find two tracks with lyrics: “The Short Way Home” and “Atmosphere.”
In conclusion, “Music For Broken Elevators” is more than just an album; it is a sonic exploration that challenges conventions and takes the listener on an unpredictable and immersive journey. !Gerald! once again prove that they are a unique band, capable of blending genres and emotions with a skill that few possess. With their ability to create such diverse and rich soundscapes, it’s clear that !Gerald! not only aim to entertain but also to provoke thought and reflection. This new work solidifies their place in the music scene as a band unafraid to experiment, one that will undoubtedly continue to surprise with each new production.
