Turin – The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing
The British band Turin, formerly known as This Is Turin from 2008 to 2023, has decided to simplify their name and present us with their album titled “The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing”. Released under the MNRK heavy label, this musical work is filled with influences from various metal genres such as deathcore, symphonic death, post-death, melodic death, black, and death metal. Combining these styles results in a sound brimming with fury, violence, rage, despair, and rawness, conveyed through each instrument and the powerful vocals that express the rawest emotions of the songs.
The execution of each instrument is meticulously crafted, reflecting in the deep orchestrations filled with drama, tempo changes, and techniques. The honest lyrics of each song feel like a slap of reality, and this is precisely what the band aims to convey: the raw truth of the world. The album thus becomes a personal and passionate work by Turin. It consists of ten tracks that we will enjoy for 41 minutes. Among them, standout songs include ‘The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing’, ‘Envy’, and ‘I Am The Truth’ (one of my favorites). However, there is one exception: ‘Ghost’. While I understand its meaning and inclusion in the album, I feel that this song momentarily diminishes the energy built up by the other tracks. Despite this, I consider it a great album.
