Bend The Future – Without Notice

Mit dezent guter Laune und schrägen Takten in eine strahlende Zukunft. Obwohl letztere dann doch noch ungewiss ist, wird diese von Bend The Future für uns fürsorglich vorgeformt und passend gemacht.

In der Konstellation Gitarre, Bass Saxophon, Keyboards und Drums deckt die Band aus dem französischen Grenoble vollkommen Hybris-befreit alle positiven Facetten aus dem Jazz-, dem Prog- und auch dem Folk-Rock ab.

 
 
 
 
Wichtig ist bei jedem der sieben hier enthaltenen instrumentalen Stillleben (nur die lässigen Progrocker ‚Merely‘ und ‚We Aim Higher‘ kommen mit Vocals und Camel-Flair) der angenehm gleitende Flow, der trotz dezenter jazzender Elemente nie die Orientierung beziehungsweise die Kontrolle über leichte Temperamentsausbrüche verliert.

Nach der letztjährig veröffentlichten “Pendellösung” (Demos) haben Bend The Future nun ihren eigenen Stil gefunden und fahren den jazzy Chill-Out Faktor, der im Ausklang mit ‚Miniature‘, ‚Mus‘ sowie ‚Without Notice‘ ein wenig zu gut gemeint ist, Richtung Blue Lounge, in der es sich auch schon Zeitgenossen wie GoGo Penguin oder Mammal Hands bequem gemacht haben.

What is your connection to the album?
This album directly represents the isolation we had from everything, and our answer to it, as the songs mostly were written during the first lockdown period march to april 2021.

Credits on the album read Artwork: Egemen Kırkağaç, did he shoot the beautiful photo on the front (my personal cover art of the year – and the reason why I’m bothering you) as well?
Egemen is our dear friend who designed all visuals, CD and LP including the digital cover. But he is not the one who took this picture, Stephen Schnirch did.

What do you know about this photograph and these amazing (if somewhat cheeky) girls?
I saw it on Facebook on some friend’s cover photo, and thought that would make a good cover. Then we went online searching, and somehow found the owners. Lovely people!
On this picture, Stephanie Erickson (dark hair) and her younger sister Heather Garcia (the blonde), taken in North Central Phoenix, Arizona circa 1994 (hence the hilarious 90’s style pants). Taken in their backyard by their father Stephen Schnirch, his wooden gate facing the parking lot and all his vining plants in the background.

They do not know who originally shared the photo online but it sure spread like wildfire, unbeknownst for them for many years. After we had seen this photo by chance on the internet and searched the author of the image for days by sending e-mails all around the globe, Stephanie stumbled on one of our posts, and kindly allowed us to use it as our album cover. We are grateful!
